FUFA to Hold 101st Ordinary General Assembly in Hoima, Kitara Region

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) is set to convene its landmark 101st Ordinary General Assembly in Hoima, Kitara Region, from Friday 4th to Saturday 5th July 2025. This pivotal event will bring together football stakeholders from across the country to assess progress, make critical governance decisions, and chart the strategic direction for the growth and development of Ugandan football.

The FUFA General Assembly, held annually, is the supreme decision-making body of the Federation. This year’s assembly is particularly symbolic as it comes at a time when Ugandan football is striving to enhance professionalism, integrity, and inclusion at all levels.

The Assembly is composed of 88 voting delegates drawn from a wide range of football structures, ensuring inclusive representation. These include:

16 delegates from the 1st Division League clubs (Uganda Premier League)

5 delegates from the 2nd Division League (FUFA Big League)

2 delegates from the National Women Football Leagues

48 delegates from the FUFA Regional Football Associations (covering all eight football regions)

17 delegates from FUFA Special Interest Groups (SIGs), which represent unique football constituencies such as referees, coaches, players, schools, universities, youth football, and more.

This structure guarantees that voices from all facets of Ugandan football are not only represented but empowered to contribute to the decision-making processes that shape the game.

Delegates and FUFA Executive Committee members are expected to arrive in Hoima on Friday morning, 4th July 2025, and check in at Hoima Resort Hotel, the official venue. The day’s activities will begin with delegate registration, scheduled meetings, and a guided tour of Hoima Stadium, which is part of FUFA’s continued focus on infrastructure development.

In the afternoon, the inaugural FUFA Stakeholders’ Cup will take place—an engaging football match symbolizing unity and collaboration within the football fraternity. Later, there will be media engagements and a dinner party, fostering a relaxed environment for networking and celebrating milestones.

On Saturday, 5th July, the official business of the General Assembly will commence. Key activities include:

7:00 AM: Delegate registration, breakfast, and group photo sessions by regions, SIGs, and clubs

Distribution of delegate packs and submission of required documentation to the FUFA Secretariat

Flash interviews coordinated by the FUFA Communications Department and FUFA TV

8:45 AM: Arrival of invited guests

9:30 AM: Official opening of the 101st FUFA General Assembly

2:30 PM: Lunch

4:00 PM: Media session with interviews and photography

Departure of delegates and guests

The FUFA General Assembly carries immense responsibilities within the Federation’s governance structure. Its authority includes:

Amending FUFA statutes and regulations

Approving the annual budget, financial statements, and activity report

Electing or dismissing members of the Executive Committee and judicial bodies

Appointing independent auditors Admitting, suspending, or expelling FUFA members

Fixing annual membership subscriptions

Establishing commercial and legal entities under FUFA

Granting honorary titles

For any decisions to be legally binding, more than 50% of the voting delegates must be present, affirming the democratic nature of the assembly.

In line with FUFA statutes, the election of the FUFA President and Executive Committee is conducted by list system, where the list with the most votes is declared the winner. However, if there is only one candidature list, the assembly elects by acclamation.

This year, with only one candidate running for the position of FUFA President, the leadership is anticipated to be confirmed by acclamation during the Saturday session—underscoring the unity and stability within the Federation at this time.

As FUFA convenes in Hoima—a region rich in football heritage—the 101st General Assembly promises to be a defining moment for Uganda’s football ecosystem.
