Rotary District 9213 has ushered in a new era of leadership and purpose as Geoffrey Martin Kitakule officially assumed the role of District Governor, receiving the District Governor’s chain from outgoing Governor Anne Nkutu in a symbolic and heartfelt ceremony hosted at Hotel Africana by Rotary Club of Kampala South.

The event marked the beginning of a dynamic and promising Rotary year under the theme “Unite for Good.” Kitakule, a seasoned Rotarian and community leader, emphasized the values of humility, integrity, and action as he took on the mantle to guide the District.

“This is not a claim to power,” Kitakule stated. “As PDG Tusu wisely reminded me, the chain is not the power. The power is given by you—the Rotarians.”

A Vision of Unity and Impact

With a clear and resonant vision for the year ahead, Governor Kitakule called on Rotarians and Rotaractors to embrace teamwork, elevate accountability, and share more stories of impact that go beyond Rotary’s social moments.

“Rotary is a team sport,” Kitakule declared, urging clubs to amplify the organization’s public image by celebrating the real-life change that Rotary initiatives bring to communities.

“We are good at doing good, but we keep it to ourselves. Don’t just post the dancing. Post the clean water, the empowered girls, and the children with school supplies. That is the Rotary story.”

Empowering Women and Girls

Kitakule also underscored his commitment to amplifying the role of women in Rotary, pledging targeted action to support girls’ education, women’s economic empowerment, and maternal health.

“To achieve this, we must work with partners to empower young girls, provide resources to transform women in communities through microfinance, and support initiatives that improve the health of mothers,” he explained.

“We can only get these partners if we talk more about what we are doing and what we can do as Rotarians.”

A Tribute to Outgoing Governor Anne Nkutu

In a touching moment of gratitude, Governor Kitakule paid tribute to his predecessor, Immediate Past District Governor Anne Nkutu, for her visionary leadership and unwavering dedication throughout the Rotary year.

“We extend our deepest appreciation to DG Anne Nkutu for a year of visionary leadership, unwavering dedication, and servant-hearted guidance,” Kitakule said.

“Your commitment to the Magic of Rotary has left a lasting impact on our clubs, communities, and Rotarians across the district.”

Looking Ahead: Service, Passion, and Fellowship

District 9213 now embarks on a year of renewed service and strengthened partnerships under Kitakule’s stewardship. With a leadership style rooted in humility and action, the incoming Governor promises to lead not from above, but alongside—ensuring that the heartbeat of Rotary remains its people.

“Here’s to a Rotary year led by the people, for the people—driven by passion, service, action, and fellowship,” Kitakule said.

As the Rotary wheel turns into this new chapter, the message is clear: under the leadership of Governor Geoffrey Martin Kitakule, District 9213 is ready to unite for good—visible, impactful, and together.
