On the final day of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) nomination exercise, Dr. Bonny Kyeyune Tyenfitemukiza officially picked nomination forms at the NRM Electoral Commission Headquarters in Kyadondo, expressing his interest in contesting for Member of Parliament for Bukuya Constituency in Mubende District.

The nomination process, which commenced on June 2nd, 2025, saw a surge of enthusiastic participation from aspiring leaders across the country seeking to run for parliamentary, district chairperson, and other local government positions under the NRM party ticket.

Dr. Bonny Kyeyune, a respected figure in Bukuya and a professional known for his dedication to community service, stated with conviction:

“I am ready to serve my people with one heart. Leadership is about selfless sacrifice, listening to the needs of the people, and delivering development and unity. I pledge to be a voice for Bukuya in Parliament and beyond.”

His entry into the race adds weight to the growing list of capable leaders vying to represent their constituencies in the 2026 general elections. Dr. Kyeyune emphasized the importance of restoring public trust in leadership through integrity, accessibility, and transformational service delivery.

As he embarks on his political journey, Dr. Kyeyune reiterated his understanding of the core responsibilities of a Member of Parliament, which include:

Legislation: MPs debate and pass laws that form the legal framework for governance and national development.

Representation: They serve as a bridge between their constituents and government, voicing local concerns and ensuring that communities are not left behind.

Budget Approval: MPs analyse and approve the national budget, including assessing loan proposals and ensuring equitable allocation of resources.

Oversight: Members of Parliament are mandated to monitor the implementation of government programs, expose corruption or mismanagement, and ensure accountability in the use of public funds.

Dr. Kyeyune assured the people of Bukuya that, if given the mandate, he would prioritize education, health care, infrastructure development, agricultural transformation, and youth empowerment. He noted that Mubende has vast potential for economic development, particularly through commercial farming, value addition, and skills training for the youth.

The NRM, Uganda’s ruling party, officially kicked off its nomination process earlier this month to prepare for the 2026 general elections. The exercise attracted over 2,500 individuals from all corners of the country, demonstrating the party’s strong national appeal and organizational strength.

Speaking during the exercise, NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson, Dr. Tanga Odoi, commended the enthusiasm and orderly conduct of aspirants who turned up in large numbers, underlining that the party remains committed to transparency and internal democracy.

As the process advances to the next stages—vetting, primaries, and eventual campaigning—the spotlight will remain on new aspirants like Dr. Bonny Kyeyune, whose fresh energy and community-centered agenda are likely to shape the political conversations in Bukuya and the broader Mubende District.

With his background, passion for service, and clear understanding of parliamentary roles, Dr. Bonny Kyeyune Tyenfitemukiza emerges as a serious contender in the 2026 race. As voters prepare to make critical decisions about their future representation, his candidacy brings hope to many seeking inclusive, results-oriented leadership under the NRM banner
