Hon. Singh Katongole Declares Interest in Rubaga North MP Seat, Vows Unparalleled Service Delivery

In a bold and renewed bid for parliamentary representation, Hon. Singh Katongole, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Vice Chairperson for Kampala Region, has officially declared his intention to contest for the Rubaga North Constituency Member of Parliament seat in Kampala District.
Addressing community leaders, local NRM structures, and enthusiastic supporters during a well-attended meeting in Rubaga, Hon. Singh Katongole emphasized his readiness to offer transformative leadership centered on tangible service delivery and community empowerment.
“I have listened to the cries of the people in Rubaga North. The time has come for action, not empty promises. I pledge to deliver the best service Rubaga has ever seen,” Hon. Katongole affirmed, receiving cheers from attendees.
Hon. Singh Katongole is no stranger to the political landscape in Kampala. Having previously served as a Member of Parliament and holding various senior positions within the NRM party structure, including his current role as Vice Chairperson for the city, he brings with him a wealth of experience, strategic vision, and a deep understanding of the challenges facing urban constituencies like Rubaga North.
His past contributions include lobbying for infrastructure development, championing youth empowerment programs, and advocating for improved health and sanitation services across Kampala. With this background, Hon. Katongole believes he is well-positioned to bridge the gap between government programs and grassroots implementation.
In his address, Hon. Katongole outlined a set of key priorities he intends to pursue if elected to Parliament:
Youth Empowerment: Establish vocational training centers and job creation initiatives to reduce unemployment.
Health Services: Improve access to affordable and quality healthcare by facilitating partnerships with both public and private health institutions.
Education Enhancement: Promote equitable access to quality education by supporting UPE schools and championing bursary schemes for underprivileged students.
Infrastructure Development: Address the poor state of roads and drainage systems in Rubaga North, especially in areas prone to flooding.
Community Safety: Work with police and local leaders to strengthen security and reduce crime in urban neighborhoods.
“I am not making promises for the sake of elections. My record speaks for itself, and I am asking for your votes to complete the mission of development and dignified livelihoods for all residents of Rubaga North,” he said.
Hon. Katongole called on all voters in Rubaga North to mobilize and vote decisively, reminding them that the power of change lies in their hands.
“Let us come together under the NRM banner and build a better future for our children. This election is about service, development, and transformation,” he concluded
Several community leaders, NRM youth leaders, and market vendors who spoke during the event expressed support for Hon. Katongole, citing his track record of accessibility and commitment to grassroots causes.
“Unlike many politicians who disappear after elections, Singh Katongole has always been within reach, supporting our community activities. We believe he will deliver if given the mandate,” said Ms. Sarah Namagembe, a local women's group chairperson.
As political temperatures begin to rise ahead of the 2026 general elections, Hon. Katongole’s early declaration sends a strong message of preparedness and commitment. With his campaign likely to revolve around the theme of “Service Above Self,” the race for Rubaga North is expected to draw considerable attention, both within the NRM and among the opposition ranks.
The coming months will see Hon. Katongole engage in grassroots mobilization, policy consultations, and public dialogues to refine his manifesto and strengthen his support base in one of Kampala's most politically vibrant constituencies.
